Calne Feb., 1830-2, Leeds 1832 to Feb., 1834, Edinburgh June, 1839-46, and 1852 to Jan., 1856, a commissioner of bankrupts 1827, secretary to Board of Control 1832, 4th ordinary member of Council in India 1834, secretary of war 1839, paymaster to the forces 1846, lord rector of Glasgow University 1850, professor of ancient history, Royal Academy 1850, created Baron Macaulay, of Rothley, co. Leicester, 10 Sep., 1857, died 28 Dec., 1859, buried in Poets' Corner, Westminster Abbey.
