Monk, James Henry, scholar Trinity Coll., Cambridge, 1801 (7th wrangler and B.A. 1804, fellow 1805-22, M.A. 1807, B.D. 1818, D.D. 1822); adm. 'ad eundem' 1831 (son of Charles Monk of 40th regiment), regius professor of Greek 1808-22, Whitehall preacher 1812, dean of Peterborough 1822-30, and rector of Fiskerton, co. Lincoln, 1822-30, canon of Westminster 1830, bishop of Gloucester 1830-6, of Gloucester and Bristol 1836, until his death 6 June, 1856.
