Trinity Coll., matric. 28 May, 1710, aged 15; created D.C.L. 14 April, 1749, then of Tackley, Oxon, bar.-at-law, Inner Temple, 1740, K.C. and a bencher 1758, chief justice Court of Sessions county palatine Chester 1762, attorney-general to the Queen, deputy high steward Oxford University, M.P. Abingdon 1747-70, Romney 1770-4, Wigan 1775, until his death 25 July, 1780.
