Parsons, William, Baron Oxmantown, born at York, 1s. Laurence, Earl of Rosse, in Ireland. Magdalen Coll., matric. 1 Feb., 1821, aged 20; B.A. 1822, hon. fellow 1862-7, 3rd earl, M.P. King's County 1821-35, an Irish representative peer 1845, erected a monster telescope on his estate at Farsonstown about 1842, at a cost exceeding £20,000, F.R.S. 1824, president British Association 1843, and of Royal Society 1849-54, chancellor of the University of Dublin 1865, died 31 Oct., 1867.
