Pellew, Edward, Viscount Exmouth, created D.C.L. 18 Oct., 1816 (son of George Pellew); knighted 28 July, 1793, for the capture of the Cleopatre, created a baronet 18 March, 1796, for the capture of the French frigate Virginie, etc., created Baron Exmouth 1 June, 1814, and Viscount Exmouth 10 Dec., 1816, for bombarding Algiers, G.C.B., nominated 1816, installed 1821, M.P. Barnstaple 1802-4, vice-admiral of England 1832, died 23 Jan., 1833, brother of Samuel H. 1813. See Foster's Peerage.
