Piercy, Thomas, s. Arthur, of Bridgnorth, Salop, pleb. Christ Church, matric. 7 July, 1746, aged 17, B.A. 1750, M.A. 1753; D.D. from Emmanuel Coll., Cambridge, 1770, (as Percy), re-admitted 'ad eundem' 4 July, 1793, vicar of Easton Mauduit, Northants, 1753-78, chaplain to George II. 1759, dean of Carlisle 1778-82, bishop of Dromore 1782, until his death 30 Sep., 1811, author of the 'Hermit of Warkworth,' and compiler of the 'Reliques of Ancient Poetry,' etc. See Cotton, iii. 285.
