Powlett, Harry George, born at Raby Castle, co. Durham, 3s. Harry Vane, Earl of Cleveland. Oriel Coll., matric. 12 Feb., 1821, aged 17; B.A. 1829, created D.C.L. 21 June, 1876, 4th Duke of Cleveland, M.P. South Durham 1841-59, Hastings 1859-64, assumed the name of Powlett in lieu of Vane, by royal licence 18 Nov., 1864, K.G. 10 April, 1865, created D.C.L. Durham University 27 June, 1882.
