University of Leyden, preb. of Durham 1727, rector of St. James's, Westminster, 1733, bishop of Bristol, 1735-7, of Oxford 1737-58, canon and dean of St. Paul's 1750, archbishop of Canterbury 1758, until his death 3 Aug., 1768.
