Smith, Sydney (Sidney in Mat. Reg.), s. Robert, of Woodford Court, Essex, arm. New Coll., matric. 7 Feb., 1789, aged 17; B.A. 1792, M.A. 1796, originator of the Edinburgh Review, author of the celebrated 'Letters of Peter Plymley,' rector of Foston, Yorks, 1807, and of Combe Florey, Somerset, 1829, canon of St. Paul's 1831, until his death 21 Feb., 1845.
