Stanhope, Walter (Spencer), of Horsforth, Yorks, entered University Coll. 24 Nov., 1766 (?created M.A. 30 March, 1770, as John, see Cat. Grads.), assumed the additional surname of Spencer, M.P. Carlisle 1775-80, Haslemere 1780-4, Hull 1784-90, Cockermouth (Dec.) 1800-2, Carlisle 1802-12 (son of Walter S., of Horsforth and Leeds), died 10 April, 1821. See Foster's Yorkshire Collection.
