Syme, James, F.R.S., created D.C.L. 5 Aug., 1868, M.R.C.S. London 1821, F.R.C.S. Edinburgh 1823, professor of clinical surgery, Edinburgh University, 1833-47, 1848-69, and University College, London, 1847-8, surgeon in ordinary to the Queen in Scotland, hon. D.Med. Dublin 1867, and also of Bonn, died 26 June, 1870.
