Kur, Chur, f., ‘election,’ in Kurfürst connected with erkoren, erkiesen; MidHG. kür, küre, f. (MidG. kur, kure, without modification), ‘consideration, selection,’ espec. ‘election of a king’ (MidHG. kür-, kurvürste, MidG. korvürste, ‘Elector’); OHG. churi, f., is preserved in HG.
