​ Pelz, m., from the equiv. MidHG. bellîȥ, belz, pelz, m., ‘fur,’ borrowed in the 10th cent. (OHG. pellĭȥ) from the equiv. MidLat.-Rom. pellicia, ‘fur’; comp. Ital. pelliccia, Fr. pelisse. It corresponds to AS. pylce, E. pelt.
