Zipfel, m., ‘tip, point, peak, lappet,’ from MidHG. zipfel (zipf), m., ‘pointed end, peak’; allied to E. and Du. tip. Zapfen is the only primit. cognate word in Teut. (Zopf has no connection with Zipfel).
