gelehrt, gelahrt, part., ‘learned,’ even in MidHG. gelêrt and gelârt, with the ModHG. sense, prop. however, ‘one who is instructed’; comp. MidE. ilœred, Scand. lœ̂rþr (comp. doctus from docere).
