ständig, adj., ‘standing, stationary, constant,’ ModHG. only (MidHG. and OHG. stęndic in compounds like inständig); allied to Stand, ‘continuance.’ Comp. bestęndec, ‘continuous,’ an adj. occurring even in MidHG.
