ADAMS, Robert H., senator, b. in Rockbridge co., Va., in 1792; d. in Natchez, Miss., 2 July, 1830. He was graduated at Washington college, Lexington, Ky., was admitted to the bar, and practised in Knoxville, Tenn., and afterward in Natchez, where he settled in 1819. He was a member of the legislature in 1828, and was elected a U. S. senator from Mississippi to fill the vacancy that had been caused by the death of Thomas B. Reed, serving from 8 Feb. to 31 May, 1830.
