Edmund Finn was born in Tipperary, Ireland, on Jan. 13th, 1819, and arrived in Melbourne in July 1841. Up to June 1858, when he became Clerk of the papers in the Legislative Council, he was connected with the Port Phillip Herald. He retired from the Civil Service in 1886, and is the author of "The Chronicles of Early Melbourne," published under the nom de plume of "Garryowen."
