Martin Harris
(1783–1875)

Martin Harris served as one of Three Witnesses who testified that they had seen the Golden Plates from which the Book of Mormon is said to have been transcribed. Harris also briefly served as a scribe to Joseph Smith Jr. during the production of the first 116 pages of the Book of Mormon manuscript. This portion of the manuscript was subsequently lost by Harris. Harris financed the printing of the first edition of the Book of Mormon by mortgaging his farm.
