From the Australian Gutenberg site This is an attempt at establishing the internal chronology of Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories. That is to say, the order that Sherlock Holmes would've experienced them in, rather than the order that they were published in. It's impossible to arrive at a conclusive order for the stories on the grounds that Doyle didn't seem to have one in mind himself. This chronology is the work of William S. Baring-Gould.
