“	ABOUT THE AUTHOR E(dward) M(organ) Forster was born in 1879 of mixed English and Welsh ancestry. Having attended Tonbridge School as a boy, he went on to King's College, Cambridge, with which his name was intimately connected in later years, and of which he was for a time a Fellow. His writing, which placed him among the foremost novelists and critics of the twentieth century, is remarkable for its constant attention to moral, ethical, and human values, and also for its convincing evocations not only of England, but also of such scenes of his travels as Italy, Egypt, and India. Mr. Forster died in 1970.	”
