Misattributed works

[edit]

While the Dictionary of Irish Biography attributes The Gladiators, The Mission of the Educator, and Impressions, Thoughts and Sketches during Two Years in Switzerland to her, this seems to be an error involving Martha Macdonald Lamont, who appears to be a different person from her.

  • At the Circulating Library states that the first was written by Martha Macdonald Lamont;
  • page 84 of The Royal Throne of Mercy and British Culture in the Victorian Age by James Gregory says that the second was published by Martha Macdonald Lamont in 1840; and
  • the title page for the third says it was written by Martha Macdonald Lamont.
