Name and death year[edit]

George Archie Stockwell (?-1906): A doctor, possibly of Texan origins (?), who lived in Port Huron, MI, in the early 1890's, moved to Detroit in 1894 (Smith, H.I. 1901. Amer. Anthropologist 3(2): 286-293.). He wrote an article on the Cardiff giant hoax (The Popular Science Monthly June, 1878), one on Native American medicine (The Popular Science Monthly, Vol. 29, 1866), and one industrial uses of hemp (Scientific American Supplement 46, July 2, 1898: 18790).
