  • See 1 and 2 for birth-year, ICS and the history of the translation of Raja.
According to this source, Raja was translated by Sen in a hurried manner and got extensively revised by Tagore. During this process, an interim copy was sent by Rothenstein to Tagore's publishers who promptly published it without waiting for the author's approval (at that time, Tagore was the latest literary craze due to his recent winning of the Nobel Prize). In this publication, Macmillan wrongly showed Tagore as the translator, omitting Sen's name. Tagore did send a protest letter, but the mistake did not get corrected for several reprints. This was a unique case of unauthorized publication by authorized publishers.
