Years of West's of birth and death[edit]
The years I have down for West's birth and death may each be off by a year. I based his year of birth on an article in the September 1916 issue of QST where West states:
- "While I am older than many amateurs, being thirty-seven, it would be hard to find one more enthusiastic." (Page 263)
This should place West's birth in either 1878 or 1879. I've based the year of West's death on an article in the February 1953 issue of QST which reads:
- "The attention of old-timers will be drawn to the appearance of several familiar names among the recent ranks of Silent Keys....A former ARRL Director, M. B. West (ex-8AEZ) pioneered in the field of transmitting theory and practice." (Page 57)
Since this was published in the February issue, it is likely that West passed away in 1952. However, to be safe for copyright expiration purposes, I've put the year of West's death as 1953. Sagsaw (talk) 00:55, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
