Possibly identical to Author:Tobias George Smollett

This project is possibly just an absurdly extensive academic hoax, but claims that the encyclopedist William Owen was simply a pseudonym for Smollett and possibly some of his friends. Ditto some of the authors mentioned here, including Author:John Lockman. — LlywelynII 15:02, 23 November 2022 (UTC)

Upon further poking, William Owen I here and A Precursor of 'Tristram Shandy' here, it seems that Owen was a separate person and responsible for at least some of the books under his name. — LlywelynII 16:11, 23 November 2022 (UTC)
