The eldere man, to þe choſen lady, and to hir children, þe whiche I loue in treuþe; and not I aloone, but and alle men þat knewen treuþe; for þe treuþe þat dwelliþ in ȝou, and wiþ ȝou ſhal be wiþ outen ende. Grace be wiþ ȝou, mercy, and pees of God þe fadir, and of Jheſu Criſt, þe ſone of þe fadir, in treuþe and charite. I ioiede ful miche, for I foond of þi ſones goynge in treuþe, as we receyueden maundement of þe fadir. And now I preye þee, lady, not as writinge a newe maundement to þee, but þat þat we hadden at þe bigynnynge, þat we loue eche oþer. And þis is charite, þat we walke vp his maundementes. Soþeli þis is þe comaundement, þat as ȝe herden at þe bigynnynge, in him walke ȝe. For many deceyuours wenten out in to þe world, whiche knowlechen not Jheſu Criſt for to haue come in fleſch; þis is a deceyuour and antecriſt. Se ȝe ȝoure ſilf, leſt ȝe leeſe þe þinges þat ȝe han wrouȝt, but þat ȝe receyue ful meede; witynge þat ech man þat goiþ awey, and dwelliþ not in þe techinge of Criſt, haþ not God. He þat dwelliþ in þe techinge, haþ and þe ſone and þe fadir. If ony man comeþ to ȝou, and bringeþ not to þis teching, nyle ȝe receyue him in to hous, neþer ȝe ſhulen ſeie to him, Heyl. Soþeli he þat ſeiþ to him, Heyl, comuneþ wiþ his yuele werkis. Lo! I bifore ſeide to ȝou, þat ȝe be not confoundid in þe day of oure Lord Jheſu Criſt. I hauynge mo þinges for to wrijte to ȝou, wolde not bi parchemyn and ynke; ſoþeli I hope me to comynge to ȝou, and ſpeke mouþ to mouþ, þat ȝour ioye be ful. Þe ſones, or douȝtres, of þi ſyſtir choſen greten þee wel. Þe grace of God wiþ þee. Amen.

Here endiþ þe ſecounde piſtle of Joon, and here bigynneþ þe þridde.
