PLEISTAE'NETUS (Πλεισταίνετος), an Athenian painter, the brother of Pheidias, is mentioned by Plutarch (De Glor. Athen. ii. p. 346) among the most celebrated painters, such as Apollodorus, Euphranor, Nicias, and Asclepiodorus, who painted victories, battles, and heroes ; but there is no other mention of him.
