CAPUT XXVIII

Đys [godspel] sceal on ēasterǣfen.

1. Sōðlīce þām restedæges ǣfene, sē þe onlīhte on þām forman restedæge, cōm sēo Magdalenisce Maria and sēo ōðer Maria þæt hig woldon gesēon þā byrgene.[1]

2. And þǣr wearð geworden micel eorþbifung; witodlīce Drihtenes engel āstāh of heofenan, and genēalǣhte and āwylte þone stān, and sæt þǣr onuppan.[2]

3. Hys ansȳn wæs swylce līgyt, and hys rēaf swā hwīte swā snāw.[3]

4. Witodlīce þā weardas wǣron āfyrhte, and wǣron gewordene swylce hig dēade wǣron.

5. Đā andswarode sē engel and sǣde þām wīfon, Ne ondrǣde gē ēow; ic wāt witodlīce þæt gē sēceað þone Hǣlynd þone þe on rōde āhangen wæs.[4]

6. Nys hē hēr; hē ārās sōðlīce, swā swā hē sǣde. Cumað, and gesēoþ þā stōwe þe sē Hǣlynd wæs on ālēd.[5]

7. And farað hrædlīce, and secgeað[6] hys leorningcnihtum þæt hē ārās; and sōðlīce hē cymð beforan ēow on Galileam; þǣr gē hyne gesēoþ: nū ic secge ēow.[7]

Đys [godspel] sceal on frīgedæg on ðǣre ōðre ēasterwucan.

8. Đā fērdon hig hrædlīce fram þǣre byrgene mid ege and mid myclum gefēan, and urnon and cȳðdon hyt hys leorningcnihton.[8]

9. And efne þā cōm sē Hǣlynd ongēan hig, and cwæð, Hāle wese gē. Hig genēalǣhton, and genāmon hys fēt and tō him geēaðmēddon.[9]

10. Đā cwæð sē Hǣlynd tō heom, Ne ondrǣde gē ēow; farað, and cȳþað mīnum gebrōþrum þæt hig faron on Galileam, þǣr hig gesēoþ mē.[10]

11. Þā þā hig fērdon, þā cōmon sume þā weardas on þā ceastre, and cȳðdon þǣra sācerda ealdrum ealle þā ðing þe ðǣr gewordene wǣron.[11]

12. Đā gesamnudon þā ealdras hig, and worhtun gemōt, and sealdon þām ðegenum micyl feoh, and cwǣdon,[12]

13. Secgeað þæt hys leorningcnihtas cōmon nihtes, and forstǣlan hyne ðā wē slēpun.[13]

14. And gyf sē dēma þiss geāxað, wē lǣrað hyne, and gedōð ēow sorhlēase.[14]

15. Đā onfēngon hig þæs fēos, and dydon eall swā hig gelǣrede wǣron; and þis word wæs gewīdmǣrsod mid Iudeum oð þisne andweardan dæg.[15]

Đis [godspel] sceal on frīgedæg innan þǣre ēasterwucan.

16. Đā fērdon þā endlufun leorningcnihtas on þone munt þǣr sē Hǣlynd heom dihte,[16]

17. and hyne þǣr gesāwun, and hig tō him geēaðmēddun; witodlīce sume hig twēonedon.[17]

18. Đā genēalǣhte sē Hǣlynd, and spræc tō heom þās þing and þuss cwæð, Mē is geseald ǣlc anweald on heofonan and on eorðan.[18]

19. Farað witodlīce and lǣrað ealle þēoda, and fulligeað hig on naman Fæder, and Suna, and þæs Hālgan Gāstes;[19]

20. and lǣrað þæt hig healdon ealle þā ðing þe ic ēow bebēad. And ic bēo mid ēow ealle dagas oð worulde geendunge. †Amen.[20][21]
