The drawings for the plateswere made by members of the great scientific expedition of which Champollion wasthe head. INIany of those drawings were from the pencil of Nestor LHote, one ofthose who have most sympathetically rendered the Egyptian monuments. 2 This advantage was thoroughly appreciated by the ancients.
