English: A 1678 reprint of the 1674 map of Paris, printed across 9 (41.5 x 45 cm) pages.
Attributed on the map to the " Messrs de l'Académie royalle des sciences "; attributed to David Du Vivier by the 1911 Encyclopædia Britannica’s "Map" article; attributed to François de Vivier by Lloyd Brown's 1949 The Story of Maps; attributed to François de Lépine and Jean-Baptiste Bourguignon d'Anville by the BN; also François de La Pointe.
The EB notes that the map was on a 1:86,400 scale and used "very crude hachures bounding the rivers" in place of the "scenographic hills" previously employed. Held at the French National Library (Bibliothèque Nationale ) as Ge DD 2987 (788, I-IX) BNF Richelieu Cartes et Plans Reprod. B 10516 (1ère feuille) Reprod. Sc 87/635-643. Number 07710736. |
