Published in: Dean Jessee, Personal Writings of Joseph Smith. For info on manuscript dates, see Jessee, Dean C. (1971), "The Writing of Joseph Smith's History", BYU Studies 11 (4): 439–73. Joseph Smith is the nominal author, but the history was compiled by various editors and scribes, based on a number of sources, including Smith's diaries. Smith dictated some portions.
