(If you can find page images from another source, I will gladly start over.)
The original pages displayed as a google book are quite legible but two pages per image. Due to DRM protection (or, perhaps more correctly, my ignorance and ineptitude), my method was screen-scavenging as JPG images, then converting to multi-page TIFF. My resultant PDF was satisfactory enough to perform OCR and was visibly adequate to do proofing into MS Word. Perhaps you are not locked out of viewing the File and can confirm the PDF is in fact legible.
I confirmed your assessment (but only after the pdf images were imported from index): THE LEGIBILITY WAS UNACCEPTABLE BUT THIS FACT WAS NOT DISCOVERABLE UNTIL THAT POINT. I already had the proofed-text ready to populate the pages, so I proceeded with what was then seen as my best option. Please explain what should have been done instead.
PS- Am I permanently locked out of creating index pages, i.e. is my career over? Klarm768 (talk) 12:59, 27 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Klarm768: Not at all, you're in good standing, the transcriptions you've done have been universally high quality, and I appreciate them. I didn't mean to chide you with that remark, I just meant it as a note for any future editors if at some point facsimiles which don't have the problems you describe become available.
