@Tar-ba-gan: See how this looks—Page:Chinese Merry Tales (1909).djvu/21. The tooltip shows "x". Also, I widened the chapter column in the dotted TOC because the chapter numbers were getting cut off. @Tar-ba-gan: I don't think I can mark any of these pages as proofread, because I don't know Chinese. You know English and Chinese, so if the English and Chinese (including tooltips) look good to you on a page, you could mark it as proofread. Since I am less regular online these days, I feel indebted for the job (one of the many) that I started but became a lot less involved. @Tar-ba-gan: Do you know Manadarin and Cantonese? Just curious. Most Americans (and I'm one) refer to the language(s) of China as "Chinese". No insult intended, I assure you. It's probably an historical carry-over from referring to the various American languages or dialects as "English". Truly confusing!!

I think I finished page layouts through Page:Chinese Merry Tales (1909).djvu/40. If you could proof those pages and ping me when you're done, I'll be glad to do some more layout work to keep this book moving along. I hope you stay active here on "English" Wikisource! No Cantonese despite 4 years in Canton/Guangzhou :) My command of Mandarin is far from perfect (while I am working to make it better), and this is very much why I am doing what I am doing with the bilingual English/Chinese texts I encounter: I try to make them "learner-friendly", with Traditional chars having Simplified/Pinyin tooltips. My native language is Russian, and at the moment English is my second language and my piece of bread. --Tar-ba-gan (talk) 16:28, 17 June 2016 (UTC)
