Reference for me and for whoever seems interested in this. Going without any stylistic guides seems silly, so I'll define basic stuff here.

Entries

Entries in the EB1771 don't seem to have the girth of EB1911, so pages will be transcluded by the first two letters (i.e., XX; entry for CLOWN will be at EB1771/C/CL or however the page works. Therefore, anything with the same beginning two letters should be put in the same section.

For example, for these example pages...

BALL, a cool thing.
BAIT, a cool tool.
BASS, a cool instrument.
BAZ, a nice thing.
BBO, a place.
BBE, something something.
<section begin=BA />
BALL, a cool thing.
BAIT, a cool tool.
BASS, a cool instrument.
BAZ, a nice thing.
<section end=BA />
<section begin=BB />
BBO, a place.
BBE, something something.
<section end=BB />

Hopefully this explains how transcluding things will work.

Pages

All pages should have hanging indents. If the page does not begin with a new entry, then start a hanging indent with indent at 0 at the header (Header: {{hi/s}}. When the entry ends, and a new one begins, end the first hanging indent and start a second one (...foo bar bar foo baz.{{hi/e}} LINE BREAK {{hi/s}} FOO, bar baz baz foo...)

If the page does start with a new entry... to be figured out when I find one.

All pages should end with {{hi/e}}. Best examples currently are Page:Encyclopædia Britannica, first edition - Volume I, A-B.pdf/15 and Page:Encyclopædia Britannica, first edition - Volume I, A-B.pdf/16.

Titles for major sections

Some topics break off from the entry layout, like anatomy and botany. I made Page:Encyclopædia Britannica, first edition - Volume I, A-B.pdf/185 to show how these would be made. That is to be sectioned off soon.

Header

The header is already done for you; just change the XXXes. Keep in mind topics have different headers.

Multi paragraph entries

Some entries encompass several paragraphs. Currently, one of these, ABERDEEN, located at Page:Encyclopædia Britannica, first edition - Volume I, A-B.pdf/18, does this. My dirty solution to prevent it from leaving a hanging indent at every paragraph is to:

  1. End the hanging indent after the first paragraph.
  2. Use {{left margin}} with 2em as the first parameter and the rest of the entry as the second parameter.
  3. Continue the hanging indent ({{hi/s}}) after the end of the entry.
Yuck! The long s

Use {{ls}} for all the long s's you see for consistency. If you do make a page with no long s's in it, then let it be known or something.
