Editing conventions

The following are the conventions used when transcribing this source.

• Join words split with a hyphen at the end of a line
• Insert em dash because these are all missing in OCR conversion. em dash has no space on either side.
• Remove extra space in front of punctuation, including semi-colon, colon, comma, question-mark.
• Add italics as needed, join lines between italics start and end.
• Preserve line breaks unless there is a problem, it makes it easier to compare text with original page.

• use \tfrac for fractions in the text to keep them compact, eg ${\tfrac {1}{116}}$
• link Page xx references with a link using Title/Chapter n#xx |Page xx
• link Note X references with Title/Appendix B#Note X |Note X, Appendix B.
• preceed each Note in Appendix B with , to link to.
