Spelling[edit]

Leave as the author wrote-

  • phænomenon
  • connexion
  • ballance
  • propension (sometimes mis-OCR'd as pro pension
  • œconomy

Use {{SIC|wort|word}} if you think the printer has typeset something wrong. Also if it is in reference to someone or something (e.g. book title). Be generous and respectful to the author's idiosyncrasies as English is an evolving language and as such these books demonstrate its progress (or not).

Wiki Manual of style dictates the following changes to accommodate line-wrapping: Contractions such as e. g. and i. e. are transcribed tight-e.g. and i.e.; ellipses are ... not . . .;

OCR errors[edit]

Tricky (not picked up by spell-check)

  • f is frequently misread; f,-->£ can be hard to spot. reelections for reflections
  • ' dropped from 'tis, 'twill' 'twou'd and 'Tis at start of line and tho' and thro' at end of line.
  • reasonings as reasoning's
  • xable as x able
  • l(letter) as 1(number)
  • encrease as en crease
  • tum for turn
  • conceding for concerning
  • modem for modern
  • hilly for fully
  • mother for another
  • random `
  • s for a
  • 3 for 2, 1 for 7 and visa versa
''viz.''

Sidenotes[edit]

  • There are on-going issues with sidenotes in Wikisource so I've left them out in proofreading.Zoeannl (talk) 05:55, 9 May 2015 (UTC) They are repeated through a chapter so should be easy enough to add in when the programmers have things sorted. Below is the custom rule for the sidenotes:[reply]
{{custom rule|sp|10|d|4|d|4|sp|10}}

References[edit]

References are in a smaller font. At the footer section, replace <references> with {{smallrefs}} (off tool bar) if the page has a reference. This will cause a gap at the bottom of the text on the preview and proofread pages. Ignore this, it's a gliche that works out in transclusion.

Index[edit]

Using {{hii}} template for whole of index to create hanging indents (i.e. {{hii}} at first page and {{div end}} at end). {{gap}} needed at start of paragraphs to align within hanging indent.

{{hi|'''Accession'''—and property, 509 f.}}

{{hi|'''Accidents'''—-fiction of, 222.}}

Notes[edit]

  • How does this relate to current understanding-concepts, brain development, metacognition, culture/cultural influence, adoption of the views of others, limited capacity of the mind
  • scientific consensus: the body as a part of ourselves;
  • humility=shame. Characteristics of pride seem to have evolutionary advantage when applied to pride in one’s children. Original condition = minimal possessions, mobile, whanau groups, alloparenting, exchange of members for mating. Imitation, familiarity with needed skills, skills practiced. Low calorie, low salt, high fibre diet. Adaptability at crises times. Male transiency.
  • instincts/innate capacity: empathy; shame/pride; disgust/'love'; fair/unfair/resentment
  • learned discriminations-by social norms e.g. beauty, trendy; by intellectual development-wit, aethetics; by moral development-tolerence, humility
  • cheating, sociopaths, psychopaths
