Mr. John H. Rice

Mr. John Herman Rice, B.L., S. Templemore Ave. Dublin who has died, was District Justice for Leitrim-Roscommon until last year, when he retired.

Aged 66, he was a native of Tipperary, and was educated at Clongowes Wood College and in England. He stood unsuccessfully as Independent candidate for Limerick City against the late Mr. Michael Joyce, M.P., in the General Elections of January and December, 1910.

He was called to the Bar in 1916 and practised on the Munster circuit until 1923, when he was appointed District Justice for Tipperary, being later transferred to Leitrim-Roscommon. He is survived by his widow and one son, Mr. Edmond Rice, B.L. who is well-known in legal circles in Dublin.
