THE FATAL REVOLVER SHOT.

DEATH OF MR. MACKINNON.

The circumstances of the death of Mr Hamilton Mackinnon, who died in the Alfred Hospital on Tuesday from the effects of injuries sustained at Albert-park while he and Mr Aikman, financial agent, were playing with revolvers, were inquired into yesterday by the city coroner, Dr Youl. Detective-Sergeant Dungey was present on behalf of the police, and Mi Aikman watched the proceedings in his own interest.

The evidence of Mrs Marion Clarke with whom the deceased lodged, of Mr Aikman, who volunteered his testimony, and of Dr Vance of the Alfred Hospital, corroborated the details of the occurrence already published in "The Argus" Mr Mackinnon and Mr Aikman were playing with revolvers and arranging the details of a mock duel when the revolver held by Mr Aikman went off and shot Mr Mackinnon. The injured man said the occurrence was accidental and before his death formally attested the fact in depositions sworn before Mr. Edelsten, J.P.

The coroner said the death was accidental beyond doubt. Two grown men had behaved with worse than childlike stupidity, and a fatality had resulted. A verdict of accidental death was recorded.
