Baggallay, Rt. Hon. Sir Richard, lord justice of appeal since Nov., 1875, P.C. 1875, J.P. Surrey and Herefordshire, M.A., Caius Coll., Camb., 1842, fellow 1842–7, sol.-genl. Sept. to Dec., 1863, and Feb. to April, 1874, att.-genl. April, 1874, to Nov., 1875, knighted 9 Dec., 1868, counsel to Camb. Univ. 1869–75, M.P. Hereford 1865–8, Mid Surrey 1870–5, a student of Lincoln's Inn 23 March, 1837 (then aged 20), called to the bar 14 June, 1843, Q.C. , 1861, bencher 13 March, 1861, treasurer 1875 (eldest son of Richard Baggallay, of Camberwell, Surrey); born 13 May, 1816; married 25 Feb., 1847, Marianne, youngest dau. of late Henry Charles Lacy, Esq., of Withdean Hall, Sussex, M.P. Bodmin, and has issue (see Foster's Baronetage).
