Beaufort, William Morris, of Bengal civil service 1842-71, educated at St. Paul's School and East India Coll., Haileybury, entered Bengal civil service 27 July, 1842, magistrate of Bakurgunj 10 Feb., 1852, officiating judge of Poorneah 20 March, 1860, additional judge of Tirhoot 1 May, 1862, retired 11 May, 1871, edited Cryptography, a System of Secret Writing, by the late Admiral Sir Francis Beaufort, K.C.B., a student of the Inner Temple 7 June, 1854 (then aged 31), called to the bar 30 April, 1857 (4th son of Rear-Admiral Sir Francis Beaufort, K.C.B.); born 20 July, 1823.
