Blackburn, Lord (Rt. Hon. Colin), of Killearn, co. Stirling, in the peerage of the United Kingdom, so created 16 Oct., 1876, under the "Appellate Jurisdiction Act, 1876," P.C., lord of appeal in ordinary since Nov., 1876, a judge of the Queen's Bench 1859-75, a justice of High Court of Justice Queen's Bench Division 1875-6, joint author of Ellis and Blackburn's (Queen's Bench) Reports 1852-8, author of The Effect of the Contract of Sale, etc., knighted June, 1859, serjeant-at-law 2 Nov., 1859, P.C. 1876, educated at Eton and Trin. Coll., Camb., B.A., 8th wrangler 1835, M.A. 1838, hon. LL.D. Edinburgh 1870, a student of Lincoln's Inn 20 April, 1835 (then aged 21), went to the Inner Temple 7 and called to the bar there 23 Nov., 1838, an honorary bencher 13 April, 1877 (2nd son of John Blackburn, Esq., of Killearn, co. Stirling, N.B.); born 18 May, 1813 (see Foster's Peerage).
