Despite this entry claiming that he was an alumnus of Magdalen College, Oxford, he does not appear in Alumni Oxonienses: the Members of the University of Oxford, 1715-1886 and is instead confirmed in Alumni Cantabrigienses as a student of Magdalene College, Cambridge.

​Breynton, William, B.A. Magdalen Coll., Oxon, went the Oxford circuit, a student of the Inner Temple 24 Jan., 1833 (then aged 31), called to the bar 11 June, 1841 (only son of John Breynton, Esq., of Hannal Hill, near Lichfield, co. Stafford); born , 1802.
