London Univ. 1858, and a member of Convocation, M.A. (fellow) Merton Coll., Oxon, Warden since 1881, 1st class in moderations, classics, law and history schools, Arnold essay prize 1854, English essay prize 1854 Balliol Coll., Oxon, from Eton, member of London School Board (Westminster) Nov., 1876–9, author of English Land and English Landlords, joint editor of Judgments of the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council, a student of Lincoln's Inn 23 Oct., 1856 (then aged 25), called to the bar 10 June, 1859 (2nd son of William John, Viscount Midleton, late dean of Exeter, dec.); born 5 May, 1831 (see Foster's Peerage, V. Midleton).
