Clayton, William Clayton, M.A. (late fellow), Jesus Coll., Camb., 1825, D.L. co. Durham, assumed the surname of Clayton in lieu of his patronymic Walters 1849, a student of Lincoln's Inn 5 Nov., 1821 (then aged 22), called to the bar 13 May, 1825 (2nd son of Robert Walters, Esq., of Newcastle-upon-Tyne); born 13 Aug., 1799; married 6 Nov., 1834, Elizabeth, dau. of Edward Chapman, Esq., of Whitby, and has issue (see Foster's Yorkshire Collection).
