London Univ. 1874, 1st class honours law tripos Trin. Hall, Camb., 1878, B.A., LL.B. 1879, a student of the Inner Temple 3 Nov., 1876 (then aged 21), called to the bar 25 June, 1879 (eldest son of Thomas Emmott, of Oldham, co. Lanc, cotton manufacturer); born 28 Sept., 1855; married 24 Aug., 1881, Elizabeth, 4th dau. of Joseph Bevan Braithwaite, Esq., of the Middle Temple, bar.-at-law, and has issue (see Foster's Our Noble and Gentle Families).
