Firth, Joseph Firth Bottomley, LL.B. London Univ. 1875, M.P. Chelsea since 1880, a member of the North-eastern circuit, member of London School Board (Chelsea division) 1876-9, author of Municipal London, assumed the additional surname of Firth by royal licence Feb., 1873, a student of the Middle Temple 27 Oct., 1863, called to the bar 6 June, 1866 (eldest son of Joseph Bottomley, of Matlock, Derby); born 21 Feb., 1842; married 17 Sept., 1873, Elizabeth, youngest dau. of George Tatham, Esq., J.P., mayor of Leeds 1881, 1882, and 1883.
