Cambridge 1865, Marylebone 1874-80, a member of Council of Legal Education since 1860, a member of the Midland circuit, commissary of Cambridge Univ. 1868, standing counsel to secretary of state for India 1859-74, author of Hortensius, History of Trial by Jury, Life of Cicero, Cases and Opinions on Constitutional Law, and of The Law of Custody of Infants, a student of the Inner Temple 10 April, 1834 (then aged 21), called to the bar 22 Nov., 1839, Q.C. 6 July, 1857, bencher 24 Nov., 1857, treasurer 1872 (eldest son of Thomas Forsyth, Esq., of Birkenhead); born 25 Oct., 1812; married 1st, 23 Feb., 1843, Mary, youngest dau. of late George Lyall, Esq., M.P., of Findon, Surrey; she died 9 March, 1864; he married 2ndly, 3 July, 1866, Georgiana Charlotte, dau. of late Thomas Hall Plumer, Esq. (and granddau. of late Sir Thomas Plumer, master of the rolls).
