Hanson, Alfred, comptroller of legacy and succession duties at Somerset House since 1865, junior counsel to commissioners of customs, inland revenue, etc., 1853-65, revising barrister for London 1861-4, author of The Acts relating to Probate, Legacy, and Succession Duties, a student of the Middle Temple 24 Jan., 1840, called to the bar 27 Jan., 1843 (eldest son of Joshua Flesher Hanson, Esq., of Backwell, Somerset); born 29 June, 1816; married 2 May, 1848, Frances Harriot, elder dau. of Rev. John Clarke, rector of Clayhidon, Devon; she died 9 Dec., 1876, leaving issue (see Foster's Baronetage, Duntze).
