Hennessy, Sir John Pope, K.C.M.G. (21 April, 1880), governor of Mauritius since 1882, matric. Queen's Univ., Cork, J.P. co. Cork, M.P. King's Co. 1859-65, governor of Labuan 1867-71, of the West African settlements 1871-2 (C.M.G. 13 May, 1872), of the Bahamas 1873-4, of the Windward Islands 1875-6, of Hong Kong 1876-82, a student of the Inner Temple 21 Jan., 1856 (then aged 23), called to the bar 18 Nov., 1861 (3rd son of John Hennessy, Esq., of Cork); born , 1833; married and has issue.
